Happy Halloween
/Believe, believe in me, believe/That life can change, that you're not stuck in vain/We're not the same, we're different tonight/Tonight, so bright/Tonight/And you know you're never sure/But you're sure you could be right/If you held yourself up to the light/ ("tonight, tonight by the smashing pumpkins")

Just got back from dinner with friends - this week we had it at my girlfriend's house. we only had a few trick-or-treat'ers come, but I thought it would be somewhat appropriate to share one of my favorite bands (from high school) on this halloween night. The smashing pumpkins were a seattle rock band that were very influential in my junior high and high school years. The lyrics that I shared are particularly poingant as they resonate with a life that is changing with the promise of Christ's salvation.

This past weekend I was on a "fall retreat" with some of the high school students. We had small numbers, but I think it had a big impact on those few who came. The theme was "the great exchange" and it focused in on the great commandments that Jesus gave: "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart mind and strength, and Love your neighbor as yourself." The talks focused in on how these commands affect our (1) personal lives, (2) friendships and (3) dating relationships.

My hand is healing well- I have progressed to a place where I am massaging it 4x daily with some special swiss lotion that the burn doc gave me to use. It keeps looking better and better too! I'll post a new pic soon.

Well... I just felt this large weight of the design and maintenance of the old blog... I wanted to keep doing this, but I was just staying away because I felt that imaginary weight about it. Since I have redesigned the blog, and shifted things, I am happier with it and more prone to get on and post. There ya have it!

also, The title comes from my musings on a mason jar that i used sometimes to drink water out of. It was sitting in front of me, and had a bit of a water cycle going on inside (evaporation, condensation, rain...). hence the name.
